Volume 1 aims to present the main points of quarry legislation in a comprehensible form. It focuses on general health and safety duties under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and specific duties under the Quarries Regulations 1999. The Codes of Practice and Guidance where these exist and in some cases is illustrated by examples of court decisions.
Volume 2 focuses on other health and safety regulations not only to quarries but to those affected by them. It also looks at the regime by which health and safety compliance in quarries is enforced.
